16-times Isle of Man TT winner Ian Hutchinson and Bennetts British Superbike Championship star Leon Haslam are the two latest names to add to the stars who will be in attendance at the Castle Combe Grand National, which takes place at the Wiltshire track on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September 2018.
‘Hutchy’, regaled as the ‘Miracle Man’ such has been his ability to overcome career-threatening injuries, and which is indeed the title of his best-selling autobiography, is fighting to get fit following an accident at the 2017 Isle of Man TT Races. The factory Honda rider will be on hand at the West Country’s biggest motorcycle race meeting to meet and greet fans and is hoping to do a few demonstration laps too.
Former World Superbike race winner and ex-GP rider Haslam will be taking time off from his Bennetts BSB duties for the weekend and will join Hutchinson in signing autographs and meeting race fans. The JG Speedfit Kawasaki rider is expected to be fighting for this year’s crown once again and is planning a few laps around Castle Combe too.
The pair will join three-times World Champion, Freddie Spencer, who returns to Castle Combe by popular demand having visited for a first-time last year, where the American will lead the ‘Year of the Legends’ celebrations which will also include former 500cc Grand Prix racer and British Champion Steve Parrish amongst a host of other stars still to be added.
In addition, there is a packed programme of racing organised by NG Road Racing Club, and featuring a number of major championships over the weekend. With some of the best club race action in the country which always leads to packed grids, Race Director Steve Bostock and his team will once again deliver an end of summer feast which last year included 20 races per day over the weekend.
